Meet the academic

Rob Williams

University of the West of England (UWE) Bristol

Rob Williams is a Senior Lecturer in BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing at UWE. As a newly qualified Nurse, Rob worked on Elizabeth Casson Unit (Female PICU) for several years as a band 5 and then band 6 RMN. He went on to complete his mentorship qualification at UWE and quickly developed an interest in clinical skills teaching. With a keen interest in criminology and forensic aspects of mental health, Rob was motivated to pursue other opportunities within the NHS and he moved into Criminal Justice (HMP Bristol) in 2012, initially as a senior practitioner, and then taking over the key mentor role for placement coordination. His role as key mentor enabled him to consolidate his student mentorship and develop his passion for teaching. Rob’s final hurrah in the NHS came as he qualified as a non-medical prescriber and took up a team leadership post.
