Course snapshot
Anglia Ruskin University’s BSc (Hons) Business with Entrepreneurship degree is made for those who are resilient, open to making mistakes and see the importance of failing and trying again. Throughout your studies, you will learn what it takes to be an entrepreneur, developing skills of product ideation, development, testing and pitching in a supportive environment, while consulting with professional contacts that could open doors for you both during and after your studies.
Year one will teach you fundamental business skills, by studying how understanding data and case studies of different organisations can be put to practical use. You will cover a broad range of external impacts to businesses, including global legal issues, strategic perspectives, applying marketing principles in real life, and examining customer and ethical challenges to a business. In your second year, you'll start thinking like an entrepreneur by identifying opportunities for new products, marketing or processes to create economic and social value. The focus is on team working, as you will collaborate with others to ideate products, and consult stakeholders to improve them. You will see your product come to life, and address product factors of risk management, scheduling and costing. You will develop essential project management and networking skills, and build your portfolio for opening up opportunities after you graduate. Your final year will develop a sophisticated entrepreneurial mindset through focussing on self-assessment, by learning techniques to think strategically and analytically about your own past work. You will also consider social responsibility and sustainable management in business. Your studies will culminate in your Major Project, where you will work in an interdisciplinary team on a live brief, and will present your understanding of banking and finance to your peers.
This course is designed to allow you to develop a strong CV. You will hone your entrepreneurial confidence with regular practical, team working projects on live briefs to build your portfolio, and network with professional contacts to open opportunities for during and after your studies. You can further enhance your employability by undertaking an industry placement year, or dedicating time outside of your studies to complete the ARU Certificate for Professional Development. You will also have access to business support and mentoring through the Start Up Hub to help you develop your venture ideas.
